Matt Smith, M.Min

Matt earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 2000 from Hyles-Anderson College and directly began his work as a children’s pastor in ministry. Over the next 20 years he fulfilled the roles of children’s director, youth director, and finally as senior pastor with a counseling focus in each ministry opportunity. In 2012, Matt earned a Bachelor of Arts degree followed by a Master’s of Divinity in Pastoral Ministry in 2016 from Great Plains Baptist University. Matt is a Certified Mental Health Coach and especially enjoys working with men to develop personally and thrive in relationships.

In addition to these pursuits, Matt is a Captain in the United States Army, Reserve Component serving our heroes as Chaplain specializing in relational skills training, crisis intervention counseling, and suicide prevention.

Born and raised in Salem, Ohio, Matt has made a full circle back to the Canton, Ohio area where he enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and shooting as well as playing the piano and guitar.

Christie Orosz, MA, LPCC-S

Christie received her Bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Akron and her Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Ashland University Theological Seminary. She is Gottman and EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) Trained and constantly pursues continuing education through books, podcasts, workshops, and training.

Married for 29 years and a mom to four daughters, two bonus kids, and a couple of ‘fur’ babies, Christie spent many years raising children before returning to professional work.

A resident of the west side of Akron, Christie enjoys spending time with family, which can include anything from painting fingernails to hiking the Metroparks. She also enjoys restoring and repurposing home furnishings.

Chris Cantergiani,

MS, MFT

After a long career as a television investigative journalist, Chris has completed a masters degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from Capella University’s School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. He is currently completing the process of securing an Ohio Marriage and Family Therapist license.

Chris has completed Externship and Core Skills in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and is active in networking and advocating statewide with the EFT community. His clinical specialty is helping couples and families who are experiencing distress from a variety of sources including family-related conflicts, infidelity, divorce, parenting children with disabilities, trauma, and toxic work environments. As an accepting and inclusive therapist, Chris is keenly focused on creating an open, welcoming, warm, non-judgmental environment for all individuals and couples.

Always on the move, Chris enjoys marathon training and waterskiing with his wife and love of his life, Kristin. Chris has two adult children from his first marriage who live and work in New York City. In his free time, Chris enjoys live music venues and especially loves pickin’ and grinnin’ on his bluegrass mandolin at jam sessions with friends.

Jamie Dunlap

Jamie Dunlap has been with Married Life Counseling since the beginning. She has a diverse background in marketing, team management, and customer relations. 

Jamie is a local Copley gal and has been married 25 years to her high school sweetheart, Greg. Jamie & Greg have two spirited children who keep them very busy and sleep-deprived.

Jamie enjoys gardening, volunteering at the kids’ schools, interior decorating, reading to her children, family hikes, and cooking for gatherings with neighbors, family, and friends.

Olivia Jeong

Intake & Office Coordinator

 Olivia recently joined our team to manage client intake, marketing, and office administration. She graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Digital Media Production and brings valuable experience in customer relations. With her expertise in social media and her solid educational background, she will contribute significantly to establishing Married Life as the premier practice for couples and individuals seeking to heal their relationships.

Olivia is a newlywed, and she and her husband, Jae, have just purchased their first home. The couple loves exploring new local foodie hotspots, cooking together in their spacious kitchen, and spending quality time with friends and family.
