Double Sessions & Intensives
Double sessions are available for those who prefer more time for their initial session, couples in crisis, couples driving from a distance, and those who wish to make progress quickly. These sessions are reserved especially for you and therefore are billed one-half of fees, non-refundable, at the time of scheduling. If you need to cancel or reschedule, we ask you to do so at least two weeks in advance to allow others the opportunity to schedule. If you’d like to schedule multiple sessions in advance, please speak with our intake coordinator or your counselor to make arrangements.
Why Choose Self-Pay for Couples Therapy?
We believe that self-pay offers distinct advantages, especially for those who value privacy, convenience, and personalized care. Because we spend less time entangled by insurance webs, we spend more time directly caring for our clients by preparing for sessions, collaborating as a team, and engaging in training specifically designed to provide our clients with the most up to date and effective interventions and directives.
Complete Privacy and Confidentiality
Self-pay ensures your therapy sessions remain completely private, without the need for sharing sensitive information with insurance companies. You can focus on your personal growth, knowing that your care is kept confidential.
Personalized and Exclusive Care
Private pay allows us to tailor our services to your unique needs. You will receive individualized treatment plans that prioritize your goals, free from the limitations often imposed by insurance providers.
Flexible Scheduling
We understand that your time is valuable. With self-pay, you have more flexibility in scheduling appointments that work around your busy life, including evening and weekend sessions, or virtual therapy options.
High-Quality Expertise
We provide access to therapists with specialized skills and advanced credentials. Our self-pay clients expect the best, and we deliver premium care that helps you achieve meaningful results.
Seamless and Efficient Experience
From scheduling to billing, our self-pay process is designed for efficiency and ease. No complicated insurance paperwork—just straightforward, transparent pricing and hassle-free transactions.
Focus on Results
Our goal is to help you achieve measurable progress. Private-pay clients appreciate a results-oriented approach that focuses on tangible outcomes, ensuring that therapy is not just an experience but a path to real change.
Exclusivity
By choosing self-pay, you access a level of care that is tailored to clients who demand a higher standard. We offer a premium service designed to fit the needs of busy professionals who seek both quality and discretion.
Opting for self-pay at Married Life Counseling allows you to invest in the highest quality of care without compromise. If you have any questions about billing or would like to learn more about the benefits of our self-pay model, please feel free to contact us!
Billing and Payments
Your Questions Answered
Do you bill insurance or offer reimbursement?
We do not take insurance but we are happy to offer you a Superbill*. A superbill is a detailed monthly statement that summarizes the services provided to a client, which they can submit to their insurance provider or health savings account (HSA) for potential reimbursement. Clients can use superbills to seek reimbursement for out-of-network services. As an out-of-network practice, it is the client’s responsibility to verify coverage and manage reimbursement with their insurance company.
*Note: insurance providers reimburse session with Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC), Marriage & Family Therapists (MFT) and Licensed Social Workers (LSW).
Why should I choose self-pay over using insurance?
Self-pay allows us to focus entirely on your needs without the limitations or paperwork delays often associated with insurance. You receive confidential care with no diagnosis required for treatment.
How can I submit payment?
We accept payment via check, credit card, debit card, or HSA card (health savings account). Payment information is collected when you schedule along with a $50 deposit. The remaining amount will be billed at the time of service.
Is my information kept confidential?
Absolutely. We adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines to ensure your privacy and trust are maintained at all times.
What if I need to cancel an appointment?
For Single Sessions, please cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours in advance. Late cancellations and no-shows are billed at the full rate of the session scheduled. Double & Triple Sessions must be canceled or rescheduled 2-weeks in advance. Intensive Sessions will be billed in full and are non-refundable.
What if I need financial assistance for couples therapy?
We understand that therapy can be an investment, and we encourage individuals to seek support from family members or community resources such as churches that may offer assistance. Our hope is to establish a scholarship fund to provide financial support to those who need help accessing therapy services. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out to discuss potential options.
Do you accept Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)?
Single Session fees are due the day of service by cash, check, credit card, or HSA card. For Double, Triple & Intensive Sessions, half of the counselor’s session fee is due at time of scheduling.

“The colossal misunderstanding of our time
is the assumption that insight will work with
people who are unmotivated to change.
If you want your child, spouse, client, or boss to shape up,
stay connected while changing yourself
rather than trying to fix them.”
